I have noticed when you use the term “vintage centerpieces” people automatically think you mean a country or rustic wedding. This *might* be the case but not necessarily. Vintage centerpieces can come from any distinct style, place or era from the past. To name a few:
- Victorian – Turn of the Century (1900 not 2000)
- Shabby Chic
- The Roaring 20’s
- The 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s
- A place like Vintage Vegas, Old Hollywood, Classic Paris
- Ancient Greece, Rome or Egypt
- English Country Garden
- Vintage Travel or Golden Age of Travel
- and more
Once you have chosen the vintage style or era you want for your theme, you start on the hunt for decor and vintage centerpiece elements that will help bring the theme to life for your guests. One great place to start looking is at antique or vintage malls and stores. The words “vintage” and “antique” are not synonymous with “expensive”. You have to be willing to spend some time searching but wonderful items are out there, perfect for your vintage theme.
In our Vintage With a Twist booth space, we have items starting at $1 and going up. For instance:
The photo on the left are two Egyptian statues that are priced at $12.95 each. They are about 15″ tall and would work great as part of a centerpiece for an Egyptian theme. The assortment of vintage cameras on the right are priced from $10.95 to $39.95. These would work in a number of vintage themes.
Vintage telephones (or in this case a birdhouse that looks like a telephone) for $9.95. A travel theme or early decade vintage theme works for this.
Old bottles with chalkboard paint from $4.95 and up. These could the be table numbers themselves or hold a picture or postcard or table number for almost any vintage theme.
The trick is to look and possibly, see something that might not even be there yet. Possibilities are key.

Another great resource for items you can use in a vintage centerpiece is eBay. Almost anything you can think of is available. Don’t look under the “wedding” category. Just do a general search and keep drilling down until you find what you want.
So, no matter the direction you are going with your theme and vintage centerpieces, look around — everywhere! You may find just what you want in an unexpected place!
